Announcing the BlueFolder API

We are excited to announce that we have just released the BlueFolder API 1.0 Beta!

The BlueFolder API is an interface that allows you to build applications that interact with your BlueFolder account. We're excited to see what kind of applications and integrations our user community will build with the API.

As described, this is a Beta release of the API, so we're still adding features to it. The initial release allows you to access customer records, service requests, add comments & labor, and interact with the master item list. Some of the enhancements we're planning for the next release include appointments and more filtering options. We'll be adding new features to the API on an ongoing basis, so be sure to check the documentation for new changes as we add them. The API documentation can be found at: http://app.bluefolder.com/api/1.0/docs/.

If you are a Premium Edition subscriber, you can enable the API by visiting the new "API" tab within the "Settings" tab.

Product Update: UI Improvements for Customer & Item Records

Customer Record Display Change

When viewing a customer record, you will now be able to view the internal BlueService Customer ID and the details about when the customer record was created and who created it. Since the "createdByUserID" field is new, please note that customer records created before this update will show "Unknown" as the user who created the item.

Item List Record Display Change

When viewing an item from the Item List, you will now be able to view the internal BlueService Item ID and the details about when the item was created and who created it. Since the "dateTimeCreated" field is new, please note that the "dateTimeCreated" value for items created before this update will reflect the date and time in which these changes are made.

Minor Database Changes

This update includes a few BlueService database changes that may affect you. If you use the data export features of BlueService to integrate with other systems, please take note of the following changes.

• The field "inputByUserID" will be renamed to "createdByUserID" in customer comment records.
• The field "inputDate" will be renamed to "dateTimeCreated" in customer comment records.
• New field "createdByUserID" will be added to the customer record.
• New field "createdByUserID" and "dateTimeCreated" will be added to customer contact records.
• New field "createdByUserID" and "dateTimeCreated" will be added to customer location records.
• New field "createdByUserID" and "dateTimeCreated" will be added to customer equipment records.
• The field "createdBy" will be renamed to "createdByUserID" in item list records.
• New field "dateTimeCreated" will be added to item list records.
